Associate Professor

Ivanna Devdiuk studied English Philology at the Faculty of Romance-Germanic Philology of Yurii Fedkovych Chernivtsi State University (1979–1984). Qualification “Philologist. Lecturer. Translator”.

1984–1986 – a teacher of English in Storozhynets district, Chernivtsi region.

1986–1997 – a laboratory assistant and senior laboratory assistant at the Department of English of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University

1994–1997 – the post-graduate at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

In 1999 Devdiuk defended the candidate thesis (10.01.05 – Comparative Literature) “English literature in Creative Activity of Panteleymon Kulish” (Institute of Literature of Taras Shevchenko National Academy of Sciences). Just the same year she was awarded her PhD degree in Philology. In 2005, she received the academic title of Associate Professor of the World Literature Department.

2017–2019 – doctoral studies at the Department of Ukrainian Literature, Foreign Literature and Comparative Literature at Berdiansk State Pedagogical University.

In 2021, Devdiuk obtained her doctoral degree from Taras Shevchenko National University (speciality 10.01.05 – Comparative Literature) where she defended the doctoral thesis “Existential Discourse in the Ukrainian and British Prose Works of the Interwar Period” (2020).

Her scientific interests encompess comparative literary criticism, Ukrainian-English literary relations, intertextuality, modernism, existentialism.

Ivanna Devdiuk is the author of one monograph, five teaching guides, and over 40 papers published in journals listed in Ukraine’s scientific professional publications (Category «B») as well as in foreign journals indexed in databases such as Scopus and WOS.

She has successfully supervised master’s students and also PhD students since 2004. She regularly serves as an opponent and reviewer for permanent and one-time specialized academic councils.

Devdiuk is a member of the editorial board of the peer-reviewed open access journals “Philological Treatises” (Sumy State University) and “Prykarpathian Bulletin of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. Word” (Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University; Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas), which are included in the list of scientific professional publications of Ukraine (Category “B”).
